I agree that 8 hours is a long time. If you are after some reasons,
you better provide a bit more information. OS? RAM? CPU(s)? Classic
and SS require different cache settings etc, so if you have reduced
these numbers to optimise for CS, then you will need to put them at a
better level for SS.

Does gbak -g speed it up?
