Subject Guardian restarting and Errors in Log file
Author Ashley Moodley
Hi.

We currently have Firebird 1.5 installed on a Windows NT 4.0 server. All
users connect to this Database over the network. I notice that quite
often the Guardian terminates and restarts itself. When this happens,
all users lose connection to the DB, and need to restart their
application. Each PC uses BDE to connect to the DB. This has now become
a serious problem since it recently has been happening too often ( 5
times per day). The ffg message appears in the log file :

RANDSERV (Client) Tue Sep 27 12:15:56 2005
C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\bin\fbserver.exe: terminated
abnormally (4294967295)

RANDSERV (Client) Tue Sep 27 12:15:57 2005
Guardian starting: C:\Program
Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\bin\fbserver.exe

I now do a backup and restore almost every week, sometimes it helps for a
few days. There are also many other errors i see in the log file, such as:
RANDSERV (Server) Mon Sep 26 17:59:59 2005
Database: D:\DATABASE\PDS.FDB
internal gds software consistency check (wrong record length (183))

RANDSERV (Server) Tue Sep 27 08:06:29 2005
Database: D:\DATABASE\PDS.FDB
internal gds software consistency check (decompression overran
buffer (179))

RANDSERV (Server) Tue Sep 27 12:22:56 2005
Database: D:\DATABASE\PDS.FDB
internal gds software consistency check (invalid block type
encountered (147))

Has anyone experienced this problem before or what can i do to solve it?
Any help will be much appreciated. (The DB is approx 1.35G in size and
growing....)

Thanx in advance
Regards
Ashley
