Hmmm, yes you are right, but what if you local machine goes down while an
update is occurring, would you say the same consequence would occur? I am
getting the impression from the responses that this limitation is by design
because it is the feeling that this type of setup is considered [possibly]
unstable. I am in the position of having to explain to the company I'm
dealing with why they cannot have this type of access to the DB file. What
has been requested is the same type of access to the DB file that the server
version gives, but use the embedded version (because of it's simplicity in
installation).

Sure, transaction - logically - work. But if a process is writing the
file (on a network) and THEN something happens, you'll have a
corrupt database, transactions or not.
