Daniel,
weekend :-)
I've just tried down loading Firebird 1.5.1 CS for Mac OS X using Internet
Explorer 5.2.3 and Safari 1.3.1 and had no problems with either browser.
Safari downloads the file and, on my system (Mac OS X 10.3.9), unzips the
archive and launches the Mac OS X Installer program. Internet Explorer also
unzips the archive, but required me to locate the resulting
Firebird-CS-1.5.pkg in the Finder. Double clicking on that file launches the
Mac OS X Installer program.
I downloaded the Firebird-CS-1.5.1-MacOS.zip file from the Minneapolis, MN
mirror site. You could try using the same mirror, just in case the file was
corrupt at the site you used (unlikely, but possible).
The steps I followed were:
At http://firebird.sourceforge.net/ click on the "Firebird Released kits"
link under "Downloads" at the left hand side of the page.
On the "Firebird RDBMS Downloads" page scroll down to "MacOSX" in the list
of supported platforms (it's right at the bottom of the "Firebird V1.5
Downloads" list!) and click on the "Firebird-CS-1.5.1-MacOS.zip" link. Then
choose a mirror, and all should be well. If not, try asking again.
