Just a guess ...

Change the database suffix from .gdb to .fdb

On some versions of Windows (XP), every time you open a file with
certain suffixes, the OS backs the file up. .gdb is one of those
suffixes.

If you need more help than this, you'll have to tell us which OS and
what your database file name is, for starters.
