Thanks for the advice. So this means that the only reason for upgrading from
IBX in order to
utilise Firebird 2 is that IBX is really not designed to utilise the full
functionality of the
Firebird engine.

in fact, Helen - it's ONLY for the installation of the admin components.
Only installation into the IDE that you need the compatibility, nothing
else.
