Hi,
Last April I found out about a FB performance problem using a WAN
Internet connection and retreiving records with memo/blob fields. It
takes about 30 seconds to get 35 records over a remote connection and
sub second on a local connection. I tested my query with both mySQL
and MS SQL Server and they both had sub second performance from a
remote host.
I was told this FB performance problem has something to do with how
bobs are stored (as pointers to the blob data) and retreived as well
as some internet communication protocol teckie thing.
Does anyone know if the next FB release addresses this problem or is
it on the back burner??
Thanks,
Austin
