Sorry if that is the general impression, I do want to defend Firebird
because I like the database, but the primary aim should always be
trying to help the persons experiencing problems. And I have seen
sides of Fb that I've never thought of or experienced before through
this thread.

And I understand Alan. It is not rare that people having problems are
having those problems because they do stupid things. I don't suspect
that being the case here, but questioning typos may reveal the
problem, even though it sounds harsh when the problem lies elsewhere.
