I'm allowed to assume, write my assumption in my reply for him to
confirm that my assumption was right, and based on that assumption give
him a helpful response. That's what I call being helpful.

You response did not come across as helpful. It came across as coming
from a hostile attitude that led you to misread what he wrote about the
PK and not trying to read beyong his typo.

The general impression from my side of it, as a rather novice FB user,
is that "the FB people" are more interested in defending FB than trying
to help.

Luckily this is *not* the impression I usually get - you are indeed very
helpful in most cases.
