Subject Backup fdb on Linux
Author Johan van Zyl
Hi
Can I, using Data Workbench, make a backup from THIS Windows
PC of a Firebird fdb on a Linux box onto THIS PC. I have tried
and it seems to go thru the motions, but in the end there is
now backup file.
But when I make a backup from this PC of a FDB on this PC to
this PC then it works, although it does seem if the motions it
goes thru in this case are a more in number.

Answer (Martijn Tonies):
A backup is placed on the server, if you want to transfer it to
another machine, use copy/ftp afterwards.

Then:
OK now I tried to make a backup sitting at my Windows PC of a fdb on the
linux box to the same folder on the linux - but there is no backup file?
See attachment.

Answer:
I guess the "filename" needs to be:
\Primary\files\db\bx\bx.fbk
without the server name.

Then:
Nope did not work either.
Then I tried \files\db\bx\bx.fbk
files\db\bx\bx.fbk
\db\bx\bx.fbk
\bx\bx.fbk
\bx.fbk
bx.fbk
nothing works.

Answer:
Well, the file needs to be a file _local_ to the server, just like with
connecting.

You might want to try the IBX newsgroup or Firebird support group.

With regards,

Martijn Tonies
