Subject Re: Slow Connection From Server

Well I must apologize for 1) not being clearer about the situation,
next time I will make sure to provide the necessary information and
2) giving incentive, but I'm new to using this group and not aware
of the rules. I usually go through forums and know that kind of
thing happens sometimes.

Anyhow, after midnight we finally figured out what the issue was.
The OS we were using was Windows 2003 server and what I met by
copied was exactly that, I cut and paste the db from my laptop to
the server. I thought I specified a comparison of the log in time.
It took about five seconds before to log in and get running and then
when we experienced the problems, it took thirty seconds to log in
and about thirty seconds per db transaction. I meant by locally
meaning on my laptop not connected to the network compared to the
server when connected to the network.

And in that lied the problem. We moved the app and copy of the
firebird db to a private netork and that resolved it. As we found
out this morning, the port we were using was being blocked without
our knowledge. So now we had to move everything to a private network
until the state has their issue resolved. Thanks for the help and
responses.

And Helen, we have made donations and will keep them coming.
