OK, Jimmy. you've been up all night and you're not even thinking straight
enough to provide the BASICS of a problem description.

Stick your head out the door and inhale some fresh air in deep breaths
until you begin to see stars. Then eat a raw apple. And then answer some
questions.

What OS? (OS = "Operating System"). If it is Windows, what
version? service pack? If it is Windows XP or Server 2003, what is the
full name of the database file?

Let's be clear what you mean by "copied". Describe precisely what you did
to perform this "copy" operation.

RUNS more slowly than before?

Or it takes a client longer to connect than before?

Or both?

This is totally meaningless. What do you actually MEAN by "run it locally"
and "running through the server"? Please explain what you mean by both of
these expressions.

So - what model of server do you have installed now? What model was
installed before? In both (all) cases, what VERSION of Firebird? Have
you, for example, been swapping between Fb 1.0 and 1.5 and ignoring the
client libraries?

>and copying the db on another machine on the network

What kind of copying?

>and changing the ip address of the connection string

So - you are using the IP address in connection strings? Do you know
whether your client's network is using dynamic IP addressing? The
safe-play thing to do when deploying anything to a network you don't
control yourself is to anchor the server's IP address and make it static,
by insisting that a HOSTS entry is created at the server AND the
clients. Have your applications and tools applications alike use the
server name for connecting.

Please, please help YOURSELF by providing information that we can work with.

Oh, and, btw, when we finally get to the bottom of your problem, you're
welcome to show your gratitude by making a donation to the Firebird
Foundation. It is not cool to offer financial incentives on this list.
