Firebird 2 is available for testing right now, even if it's not
production ready.
Vulcan addresses the question of rights crossing database boundaries
among other things. When reading the materials on future capabilities,
don't forget to read Jim Starkey's notes on Vulcan - not only do they
cover planned enhancements, they also cover weaknesses in the current
product from the point of view of the person most inside the engine.
