I am trying to install firebird on Redhat AS 4 (64bit version) but I
am running into some difficulties. I used an RPM off the IB Phoenix
website to do the install and it appeard to run fine. However when i
try to change the default password using the changeDBAPassword.sh i
get this error:
/opt/firebird/bin/gsec: error while loading shared libraries:
libncurses.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No suchfile or directory
I also get this error if i run gbak, isql etc.
I found that the library was part of ncurses so i downloaded the
latest version and installed that, but i am still getting this error.
I have installed firebirds on lots of machines before using the rpm
from the ibphoenix website and have never had this problem or even
heard of this library, including Redhat ES 4 (32 bit), so i am a bit
lost as to what to try now.
Has anyone ever experianced this error before? And does anyone know
what i should try next to get this working?
Regards
Phil
