Hi Mike
Try creating a sub dir off firebird
eg /opt/firebird/dbs
set access so that the firebird group can read and write to it, then try
creating a db in there.
I did one yesterday on fedora and it worked fine, however I didn't quite work
from scratch as I restored a windows db there.
