Good Afternoon:
Not really fb related but maybe somone has some insight.
I have a little com server running as a service listening on port
8092. When my app starts, it broadcasts to 8092 and com replies telling
app where the database is (connection string), The com also uses dll to
create copy of databse before backup and other functions.
Anyway, this works great. Tested extensively.
I installed app on machine in an office on Monday and while testing,
someone connected to the internet through dialup. My broadcast no longer
got a response and so could not locate the server. When the person
disconnected from the internet and hung up, the com/broadcast/response
returned.
I had not such problem during development so I brought the client
computer back to my office, hooked it up used the same dialer to connect
to the same internet account exactly as was done at the other location.
It connected and the application worked fine. No problems like at the
clients office. I packed up the computer and took it back and the
problem was again there.
I have never heard of such a thing. Could there be some issue with
the buildings phone lines that can have an effect such as this?
Thanks.
Best regards
