Oh, you should have said!

IBOConsole has a LOT of bugs concerning cross-platform connections. Try
FlameRobin or something else that gets regular maintenance.

Also don't forget that it matters whether the server is Classic or
Superserver and which version of Fb/IB you are using. SM operations on IB6
Classic are of course completely no-op, since it's not implemented. You
can do one or two things with Fb 1 Classic; you can do more things (but
not everything) with 1.5. The whole Services API implementation for
Classic doesn't come till Fb 2, of course.
