this is *only* useful if you have yet to install the IBX components in
the palette, and then only if you need the InterBase Admin palette and
are not willing to comment out a line of code in the IBX design time
sources. In all other cases it's useless and confusing. I'd even
prefer to change the library name in IBX rather than renaming the
file.

Yes. Close your connections at design time before running your
executable. And, a suggestion (I might have said that before): I find
fbembed wonderful for deployment but extremely annoying for
development, due to its exclusive access requirements. I usually
develop with a dedicated Fb server even when I'm going to deploy
fbembed.
