I'm running Mandrake 9.2 on an AMD 64. I got the Superserver
version of the prerelease AMD64 Firebird 1.5. On installation
I got error messages that it couldn't connect to the server via
localhost. When attempting to connect to the examples database I got
exactly that same message. I can ping localhost just fine. Other DB
products can connect via localhost. fbserver was running.
I then uninstalled the superserver and downloaded and installed the
classic server. I could access databases just fine on this.
Does anyone know what might have gone wrong with the installation
of the superserver? Any hints?
