To those playing with Firebird 2:
Please do not post problems in this list regarding the various unofficial
builds OR the forthcoming Alpha and Beta kits. To report Firebird 2
problems, use the firebird-devel list or the field test issue tracker at
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=9028&atid=593943.
You can subscribe to the firebird-devel list by going to
http://firebird.sourceforge.net/index.php?op=lists
For now, please be considerate about reporting problems with pre-Alpha
builds. They are not official builds and can be expected to give you
problems, especially if you have not briefed yourself on the changes. You
may preview the first cut of the Firebird 2 Alpha release notes by
downloading them from the prerelease area:
http://firebird.sourceforge.net/download/prerelease/rnotes0200_01.zip
The Alpha should be available within the next few days and will include a
copy of these notes in the doc directory.
As always with field-testing, you are expected to understand how Firebird
works and how the Alpha or Beta version you are using is different. NOTE
WELL that using these builds and pounding the developer list with
newbie-user support questions about the basics of Firebird is highly
inconsiderate.
PLEASE DO NOT DO IT.
If you want to get the hang of Firebird, use a release version, use the
appropriate Quick Start Guide from the website, and use this list for
questions; then move on to the Firebird 2 field testing when you know what
you are doing.
On the other side of the coin, Alpha and Beta issues are "noise" that
interferes with the needs of people using the released software. Sorry to
say, people who persist in posting field test issues here in
firebird-support will be subject to the "three strikes and you're out" policy.
