I used Crystal 7/8 with their free Delphi 5/6 VCL dropin and it worked
great. Virtually anything you could do with CR7/8, the product, you
could do with the Delphi component. However, when I moved to Delphi 7
Ent, I had to use an updated CR component AND an updated CR 9.02 (name
of the game. rt?) - just a little too much for me. I updated my D5
Report Builder Pro to D7 RB Std and am very happy.
The CR people are missing the boat here. If I deliver an app that is CR
compatible, my users are likely to buy the req'd CR version. I
understand dev software must be compatible, but I sometimes think they
build the hooks to please their marketing dept.s, rather than
considering poor (very poor these days!) developers.
