I too have been watching this list for some time now hoping for exactly
this.
Also disappointed to hear it has been shelved.
Have had to resort to SQLLite, and Go-DB with a complicated interface
between SQLLite and firebird.

A CE compiler is required since instead of issuing calls to Windows API
components, the compiler would need to link in references to the WinCE
components. Never mind that not all API functions are available for CE.
