I think you will have a better performance using CS on this SMP machine.

The only thing I could think about is that CS cache is per conection per
database instead of per database like in SS.

If you have a heavy load take a look on the Ann's excelent article
published on "The InterBase and Firebird Developer Magazine" about the
lock manager
