The word that is wrong here is *CHOSEN* - most of us have no choice over
the machines that the systems will run on, so we have to use something
that is cross platform. Given a choice, Apache2/PHP5/Firebird on Linux -
but while customers *INSIST* on paying the costs a a windows server
licence on top of that *WHEN THEY* are given the choice ... :(

We are breaking through the resistance though, and the increases in
licensing/maintenance on the alternatives are causing the right
questions to be answered. When we are normally supplying additional
machines, an extra 1800GBP for w2003+licences on top of a 750GBP machine ;)
