I've tried to re-compile Firebird 1.5.2.4731 from source in OSX
10.4.2 and installing it. Both successful. Apparantly, in addition
to the document, it requires gcc 3.3 rather than gcc 4.0 (default in
10.4.2).

So after amending configure.in and builds/posix/prefix.darwin files,
you will need to do a 'sudo gcc_select 3.3' before running autogen.sh
