Thanks for the response and suggestion. I changed the ownership/group
to resolve the problem with FirebirdSS v1.xx and started with ibmgr.

Did you compile Firebird yourself or use the binary "kit"?

I'll try to get v1.5 (FirebirdCS) to install later.
