Hi again,
Just to follow up on this... I uninstalled Firebird from the Windows 98SE VMWare image, deleted the c:\Program Files\Firebird\* directory, restarted the image, and then ran my application and it worked. So obviously I am missing a step (or more) that the Firebird installation did and now my application is running.
