It probably won't make a difference but it might give you an error message,
would be worth trying with ISQL first though, something like (change paths
as neccesary):-

At dos prompt:
C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\bin>isql.exe "c:\program
files\firebird\f
irebird_1_5\security.fdb" -u sysdba -p masterkey

Then type:
SQL>SELECT * FROM USERS;

And hit return.
