What's the logical difference between 16.09.2004 24:00 and 17.09.2004
00:00? I think both are stored as 38246 or thereabout. 08:30 in the
morning 17.september 2004 would be about 38246.35417 (actually this
would be exactly 17.09.2004 8:30:00.288 in "human readable format", I
think).

I don't think the problem is storing date and time in Firebird, but
rather displaying it on the client.
