Hi All

We have an app using IBObjects for Firebird connection. It runs great at a
number of our customers sites however one of our users is using a Lantastic
peer to peer Windows 98 network and has connection problems.

I understand that FB cannot be accessed using a mapped drive however
Lantastic seems to be treating the physical drive name (shared as 'D-Drive')
as a mapping. The error reported is ...

ISC Error 335544721
Unable to complete network request to host "Host"
Failed to locate host machine
The specified machine was not found in the hosts file or Domain Name
Services


"Host" is what the customer has named the machine. We have also tried
connecting by specifying the IP address, with the same results. We have
noticed that if we enter \\192.168.1.34\D-Drive\ into windows file explorer
that windows itself cannot browse to this directory. However
\\HOST\D-Drive\ works fine.

So my question is, is there something that needs to be done with Firebird to
make it work on this sort of network OR is it a problem with the setup of
this network? Does anyone have any experience with Firebird on Lantastic
(using the TCP\IP connection method)?
