Hi

I just tried installing my app to another drive, d: which is also shared on my network, so it has my app, gds32.dll and the database. Then i could use the connection string 'study-2:d:\FireBirdTest'. If I run the app from the machine that has firebird installed on it, it seems to works. However, when I try and run this from the other machine connected to my peertopeer i get an error 'EIB_ISCError unavalable database'. I tried installing firebird to the same d: drive I get the same error.

I'm not sure what you meant by: 'Where "c:\myapp\etc..." is the LOCAL path on the "server" machine. If you're not running the service, you're out of luck -- it won't work with the database on a network location, and for good reasons.'

I have got firebird running as a service on the Xp machine.

Thanks once again for the help!

Pete

You cannot connect to a share/file on a share, you need to connect like:
study-2:c:\myapp\firebirddata\mydatabase.fb

Where "c:\myapp\etc..." is the LOCAL path on the "server"
machine. If you're not running the service, you're out of
luck -- it won't work with the database on a network location,
and for good reasons.

Well, yeah - that could be the problem, couldn't it :-)
