I wouldn't expect telnet to stay alive, it's not a real client.
Connection timeout is by default 180 (3 minutes) So I would expect telnet to
drop in exactly 3 minutes. Telnet can't undestand the haeartbeat.
what real client are you using which gives you this drop out (other than
telnet).
