Some people have indicated relief for the problem by disabling Server2003's
disk shadowing feature on partitions where databases are located.
AFAIK, the jury is still out as to both cause and cure...
There's only one version of the BDE and SQLLinks that is likely (though in
NO way certified) to support Firebird: BDE 5.2, that comes with Delphi
6. Even that driver is known to be deficient in its knowledge of ODS 10
and higher data types (64-bit integers and date/time types, specifically)
but any lower versions don't even know that ODS 10 exists.
Trying to run the BDE on Server2003 seems to be another challenge: I've
seen reports of apparently unsurmountable problems with it in other
contexts (Paradox, dBase). It would be worthwhile to test it with a BDE
tool such as Delphi's SQLExplorer, with some of Delphi's sample Pdox and
dBase databases. But this subject is getting off-topic for this list
(which is not a Borland tools or BDE list...)
There are plenty of BDE-free alternatives for Firebird for using with the
Borland tools - see
