Subject Stopping FB server on Unix (Mac OS X)
Author Eric Sword
How do I stop the server process on Unix (Mac OS X specifically)? I see
there is a similar thread for Windows to this question. I know all the
Unix folks are laughing at me now, but I did what I thought was obvious
- kill the fb_lock_mgr, the only fb process I see running, and yet I can
still issue connections from other machines. The IB docs are of no use
since they talk about an ibmgr app (in the OpGuide.pdf), which I see no
equivalent for in the Mac OS X install.

Pardon my ignorance of Unix functions. I vaguely know that a process
can stop itself and be reactivated when a new connection comes in on a
specific port, but I don't know if that's what is happening.

Much thanks for any assistance, especially that which points me to
documentation that I missed on this.

Thanks,

Eric
