Actually, it is not recommended. Every version of server has its
own bugs and every version of client does the same. Some combinations
of client, server and application work well, others are in problems.

During tests I used FB1.5 client with FB1 server, IB5 client with
FB1 server, IB5 client with FB2 server, FB2 client with IB5 server.
It caused wide range of reaction: from flawless work to AV. All this
is a matter of your personal luck, IMHO.

Take care about Firebird.msg (intrbase.msg). This file must
correspond to version of client library.
