Hi all. This may be a bit off topic, please excuse if it is.
I remember reading a book on database programming about five years ago. I
can't remember the name, I was over somone's house and it was their book,
looked kind of like an old college text. Anyway, there was a chapter about
techniques for analyzing data from the database. There was even an
algorythm that had a name (such as algorythms named after the author; ie:
compression, encryption algos) which I can't remember.
I found this very facinating. Can anyone recommend reading or resources on
this type of analytical processing? I am very interested in being able to
use data collected from our application for forecasting and finding trends
that will help our customers save money and improve performance beyond basic
reporting of past performance, etc.
Warm Regards,
Lee
