Thanks Helen. Its been a long time since I last talked to you on a NG. I
finally decided to use FB.

Turns out I just did the Install wrong. Didnt pay enought attention to the
options and set it up as classic. Its fine now.

Il settle down to a period of testing.

Go to the Downloads>Contributed pages at www.ibphoenix.com and download some
trial versions. We are totally spoiled for choice of excellent admin tools
for Firebird.

Are you using the Classic version for Windows, by any chance? If so, you
need to use the -database switch and a network method for connecting to
Classic on Windows, e.g. (watch word wrap)

gsec -database "localhost:c:\Program
Files\Firebird\Firebird_1_5\security.fdb" -user sysdba -password masterkey

The same applies to connecting to database via your apps and tools.
