A while back I experienced a similar behavior on WinNT and IB6. After fidling
with the options and switching back and forth between all the options it fixed
itself. The iB6 applet is a bit different then the one for fb 1.5, but I wouldnt
be surprised that this is a common registry issue or something like that.

I vaguely remeber that during the fb 1.5 installation procedure I had the option
to choose if I wanted control of the server through the guardian. Have you tried
this option? (installing without guardian)
