Subject Re: OLEDB Provider for Firebird (Continuation: ADO/BDE?)

Thanks for the reply, Elmar :)

I located and downloaded an OLEDB provider for IB5/6 and FB1.0+,
ibole.dll
from ZStyle. We are evaluating its benefits presently.

Your question on ADO has given rise to another question:

We are using Delphi as a front-end. From within Delphi it's
probably
advisable to use the native dbExpress/BDE drivers for Interbase
which should
give at least a marginally better performance. However I guess
ADO is more
established as middleware than the BDE. If this assumption is
fundamentally
wrong (that ADO is more widely accepted and supported than BDE)
let me know,
so I shall look at the BDE from that angle.

Search for Interbase OLEDB drivers, IBPhoenix does list some
drivers
on their site.

Are you shure to use ADO at all? There are native Tools to
access
Interbase/Firebird form Delphi, that should result in better
performance.

It should work with firebird too.
