I am ocassionally seeing this error at various of my customer sites.
It happens to sites running IB5.x and Firebird 1.0x. I happens to 2
completely different applications. These sites are all running
various flavours of Windows from NT to 2003. Nothing shows in the
interbase.log file.
The complete text of the message is:
I/O error for file
"D:\AURORA\AURORAIMAGING.GDB"
Error while trying to read from file
The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a
portion of the file."
On the IB sites I can understand how it might happen. A virus scan or
system backup might be opening the file. But my understanding was
that the Firebird service locked the GDB files for exclusive use as
soon as the DB was opened.
Anyone had any experience with this error?
