I read the release notes just now though why I'd look there to find out how to
control forced writes is a mystery and I really didn't find anything in there
regarding it. Before making the post I read the LANGREF.PDF file (nothing
there under the create database command) and the ApiGuide.pdf file which
mentions a few things but it doesn't seem very coherent to me which is why I
asked for an explaination. I've also read the gfix manual and know it can be
used to set forced write but I was looking for a way to do it in my
application so I'm not dependant on another tool to be installed and finding
it and such.

So the question remains: Can I set forced writes on without an external tool
or not?

Also a general explaination might help regarding just how it all works. Is it
a flag controlling the database or the server? I think the flag is in the
database right now so if I open two databases using the SS version does it do
forced writes differently for them if their flags are set differently? And
finally the big one is how to set the flag in the database for forced writes
beyond using gfix (or tell me gfix is the only way which I would say sucks
but whatever).
