Hello,
I am considering Firebird for a Linux embedded application for an industrial monitoring device, which will not have any back-up source of power. I will try to encourage users to go through a software shutdown, but I will not be able to prevent the instrument from being powered off abruptly, possibly during a database write. I have tried this exercise (powering off while writing to the db) using MySQL, and there is a recovery program which can be run automatically which seems to fix any problems that the abrupt shutdown caused.
I do not yet have Firebird running on my system, so I can't run the same power outage tests. Does anybody have any experience with power outages while running (and writing to) a Firebird db? Does the db get corrupted, and, if so, is there a recovery program to 'fix' the db?
Thanks,
Amy
