Since I can't be bothered with Interbase, why should I have
to change the port? All my systems use 3050 and I'll
maintain that when they switch to FB1.5, so I *DON'T* want
Firebird to do anything!

Left alone, Firebird just uses the default gds_db:3050
if you want to move that you can do so, and you will need to
change the name if you want to run both anyway, so for
completely new installations, your idea is probably fine,
but for those of us who have been with Interbase/Firebird
for years ....
