Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to use the FB1 (IB 6.0 Opensource) dbxpress driver
(gds32.dll) with Firebird 1.5 server. If I continue to use the database
in dialect 1 and do not use any of the new features in FB1.5 will this
run ok.

I have seen the Upscene dbxpress driver thread and that it is the best
for FB1.5 but the problem is that we are likely to soon switch over to a
web based version using Java and will probably discard the Delphi based
C/S version using dbXpress drivers. Hence the hesitation in buying the
upscene version of dbxpress for FB1.5.

I need to maintain compatibility till we can move over to the web based
version completely hence the need to continue maintaining the C/S app
for some time more. Also FB1.5 is more stable on memory leaks and stuff
like that which seems to be a major problem with FB1 for us.

Can anyone here conclusively tell me if I can have FB1.5 running on RH8
with FB1 clients connecting to it using the Borland shipped DBxpress
(FB1) driver on a dialect 1 database ?

Are there data loss, etc. problems likely ?

What are the limitations ?
