Hi,
Recently I had a huge problem because of a security decision made by
some of my customers.
Due to security risk they will remove all the services with blank
description(only from the server machine).
They want to keep a report to follow the services activities.
And Firebird (at least 1.0.x) has a blank service description.
Well, the network administrator, from one of them, is running "some
program" that disables all the services that do not have a
description, thus, causing Firebird and FireBird guardian to be
disabled during the day, and of course, stoping all my applications.
They gave me some time to find a solution, because I told them that
there is a potencial risk of corrupting the database. And they
should disable this "program" until I find an answer.
1) Is there a way to "insert" a description for both Firebird
services, without breaking any license agreement?
2) Could someone tell me if FireBird 1.5 will have a description in
the service?
Best regards,
Clément
