Subject Re: Questions about migration from IB to Firebird
Author Lou
I too did the same about a year ago replacing IB 6 OS with Firebird
1.0x and have not looked back. The least painful (IMO) is to first
get yourself on FB 1.0 and not jump from IB6 to FB 1.5. In working
with Delphi I am finally making leap away from IBX and exploring
FIBPLus and the ZEOS components. So far ZEOS appears to handle
most application needs I have, though FIBPLus does have advantage of
being IB/FB specific. ZEOS is actually quite cool as it is a
universal type of client kind of like what the BDE is/was.

Good luck to you!

but yes, i didn't play with it that much before i left the world of

might be wrong), but FB1.5 has definitely an install option for
installing an old-apps-compatible GDS32.DLL - although there were
some issues with RC 7 or RC 8 recently, it should work. You could
probably just copy it to the client machines and it would work...
