The other things you mention...i had no problem with IBX+FB1.0.3, but yes, i didn't play with it that much before i left the world of Object Pascal :)
Concerning GDS32.DLL, the old one should work with FB1 (although i might be wrong), but FB1.5 has definitely an install option for installing an old-apps-compatible GDS32.DLL - although there were some issues with RC 7 or RC 8 recently, it should work. You could probably just copy it to the client machines and it would work...

BTW Isn't the hardcoded login+password backdoor still there in 6.0 OS InterBase? If so, it's definitely a reason to migrate away :)
