I'd appreciate those more knowledgeable than I casting an eye over my plans
for upgrading a site from FB1.0 to 1.5, server is RH9, client(s) are windows
terminal server

server
use gbak to take a backup of live database and isc4
rename /opt/interbase directory (reverse the install ablity)
install downloaded 1.5.? Into /opt/firebird
link /opt/interbase to /opt/firebird (avoid client app changes for now)
restore live database from backup using new gbak
put udf library in place and update config file to allow it's use
restore isc4 database to security.fdb using gbak
reboot (just to make sure)


client
install downloaded 1.5.? - Client only on windows TS machine
reboot (just to make sure)
