That is what I am asking ;)
I've tried to avoid ADO and .NET like the plague, and I don't want to
use it now - but if it will get me sorted in the short term ...
Any final solution must run on Linux something that FastReports is
suppost to be working on, but I'm not sure I can risk it :(
I may well just scrap the whole lot and run with pdfreportslite, I've
got an fb version running, but it does not have the facilities that
FastReport used to have.

ALL the native IBO stuff has been stripped from FR3. A fact that it
would be nice to see in the sales litrature before getting conned into
buying it ;)
