I am beginning to regret deciding to use the latest version of
FastReport even though it provides a web based server. I'm trying to
sort out how to use it in a stand alone mode, since it has dropped the
IBObjects compatibility. There are three options for connections, ADO,
BDE and IBX ( I can get IBO, but not reliably ) Obviously BDE is out,
IBX seems to be OK, but how much work is involved in getting ADO
working? Do I have to have the .NET framework and .NET driver, or is
there a simpler way of doing it.
Ideally a direct Firebird connection - as provided by IBObjects in FR2.5
- would be preferable, but I've been hanging out for the FastReport
server and now I don't have any time to make it work. Especially since
it also appears that ALL the reports will have to be reentered manually,
as the upgrade path simply does not work :(
